The Future of the North and the Nation:Northern Powerhouse?

As part of Parliament Week 2015 Explore presents Jane Hustwit. Jane will give a public talk about the work of Involve Yorkshire; with a specific focus on the concept of a northern powerhouse, devolution of the northern cities and what this means for Yorkshire as a region.

Jane has worked in communications throughout her life.

After training as a town planner and working in local government, she became a national trade union officer. She led communications with the Church Urban Fund, and then moved north to set up the educational trust Common Purpose in Yorkshire. She then moved into regional governance, as Director of External Affairs in the Yorkshire and Humber Assembly, then Director of Yorkshireurope.

Since 2008 she has worked freelance. Her work has included organisational development, research projects, relationship management support, event design and delivery, and communications training. Jane mentors both individuals and organisations from all sectors, specializing in recruitment/selection. She was interim Communications Director for JRF 2012-3, an independent social policy research foundation in York.

Currently Jane is Acting Chief Executive of Involve Yorkshire & Humber, a collective organisation for the voluntary and community sector.
