Parliament- A Brief History

During the week the children will explore the history of parliament and learn what parliament is, and how impacts upon their lives. Working alongside our debating coach throughout the week, children will prepare for a debate which will take place on the final day. We also aim to have our local MP visit the school and for her to give a talk to the children. Alongside this we aim to provide the children with the opportunity to visit the council chambers, whilst the year five and six children to complete the local citizen project.

We aim to provide the children with an understanding of the history of parliament and how this has an impact upon democracy and our values today.
