Newport and the Road To Democracy

A “Newport Museum’s Down Your local” special. This November marks the 175th anniversary of the Newport Chartist Rising, when 5000 Monmouthshire Chartists marched on the town. We will be discussing the significance of these events and the City’s role in the struggle for democracy from early radicals and reformers to Chartists and suffragettes. It is an opportunity to get together for an informal chat in the relaxed atmosphere of The Ruperra Arms.
