Inspiring young people in Handsworth to engage with UK democratic processes

NCA will be organising a series of awareness raising and engagement events at Nishkam Primary School, Handsworth and Nishkam High School, Hockley, Birmingham.

The target audiences for these events are year 6 primary school children and 4th Form and 6th Form pupils from neighbouring schools. The central aim of the events is to raise the awareness amongst young people of the importance of the UK democratic processes and to inspire them to plan their further and higher education towards participation in the democratic representation processes on the country.

The event will invite inspirational speakers/representatives from local, national and EU government, together with young people at university and at the early stages of their political careers. There will also be activity designed to encourage young people to identify the barriers and challenges to engaging with local and national democratic processes and what action they would like local communities to take to facilitate more young people to inspire to become future representatives of their communities.
