Halton Mayoral Schools Debates

We are very pleased to introduce the inaugural Halton Mayoral Schools Debate competition.

We are inviting high schools across the borough to enter a team to take part in this competition and debate the local outcomes of the UK Youth Parliament’s Make Your Mark survey.

The Worshipful Mayor of Halton will be presiding over proceeding and will be joined on the judging panel by some distinguished local VIPs.

At the end of the evening we’ll be presenting the school adjudged to make the best arguments with the Halton Mayoral Schools Debates trophy.

In the run up to this event we are pleased to be offering a free full day of debating training with Debate Mate for up to five students from each school. This training will give students all the skills and knowledge they need to take part in the competition.

We believe that debating has many benefits for schools and students. Learning to structure arguments, improving verbal reasoning skills, increasing confidence, enhancing CVs and college applications and much more.
