Candlelighters Fund Raisers

Representatives form each of the 17 schools in Morley, Ardsley and Tingley meet 6 times a year and hold a cluster council meeting. This is so their school council can be linked into the wider community and bring children together from different schools, backgrounds and areas in order to share good ideas and work more widely with others. Each year the cluster council takes on a project to support local charities or make the environment more user friendly. This year the children have decided to adopt the Candlelighters for their chosen charity and are at the moment thinking of ways to raise money.
One of the other projects for the community is designing banners that will be displayed on Morley High Street, these banners have a theme of the world with each school designing their own interpretation of this. The children also designed a sticker and applied for a fund to have it published and displayed in the local area which encourages people to clean up after their dog. The Morley Cluster children’s council not only make a difference in their individual schools but also in the community as a whole.
