The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom

We are really pleased to support UK Parliament Week. It’s a great opportunity for the Court to engage with people across the UK and highlight the important work of the UK Supreme Court, which plays a vital role in the UK’s democracy and constitution. We are also keen to give people a deeper understanding of the rule of law.

The UK Supreme Court is independent from government and hears cases of great public or constitutional importance that affect people’s everyday lives. It makes final decisions on how the law should be interpreted.

It is also the home of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, which is the highest court of appeal for many Commonwealth countries, as well as the UK’s overseas territories and crown dependencies.
