Leyla Hussein is a psychotherapist and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) activist. Nimko Ali is an anti-FGM campaigner. They co-founded Daughters of Eve in October 2010.

Leyla has won many awards for her inspiring campaigning work. She fronted The Cruel Cut, a Channel 4 documentary about FGM, which exposed the horrors of the practice.

In 2012, Nimco spoke openly about her experiences at the age of 7. This placed her in the public eye around FGM and led to meetings with Jane Ellison MP and Jeremy Hunt MP, Secretary of State for Health. Nimco assisted with the setting up of an All-Party Parliamentary Group on FGM. The Home Office is now also involved with the campaign to stop FGM in the UK.
