UK Youth Parliament Annual Sitting 2014

The UK Youth Parliament’s (UKYP) annual sitting takes place on Friday 14th November in the House of Commons. The Members of the Youth Parliament will debate five issues chosen by a ballot of young people across the UK, and then vote to decide which two issues should become the UKYP’s priority campaigns for 2015.

Schools are invited to tune in to watch all or some of the debate with their students as part of Citizenship or Government and Politics lessons. Alternatively it can be viewed later that evening at 8:20pm on BBC Parliament.

Morning session: Watch from 11.10am (session concludes by 12.40pm)

  • World War 1 commemoration
  • The Living Wage
  • Exam resits in Maths and English

Afternoon session: Watch from 1.40pm (session concludes around 4.00pm)

  • Better work experience and careers advice
  • Improving mental health services
  • Votes for 16 and 17 year olds in all public elections
