As part of the London Film Festival and coinciding with Parliament Week three LUX prize-winning films are being premiered in London on 17-19 November. These films will be the very first to be screened at the brand new Mondrian cinema on London’s Southbank. Get free tickets by joining the guestlist!
The European Parliament’s LUX prize casts an annual spotlight on films that go to the heart of the European public debate. The Parliament believes that the cinema, a mass cultural medium, can be an ideal vehicle for reflection and debate on Europe and its future. LUX Prize films help to air different views on some of the main social and political issues of the day.
With 751 seats, including 73 from the UK, the European Parliament is the world’s largest international parliamentary body. It is also the most culturally diverse: its Members represent 28 countries with 24 official languages. The Parliament’s legislative powers make it a crucial player in the shaping of EU policies. Its remit covers key issues such as immigration, integration, poverty and freedom of expression and thought.
