Launch of conscientious objectors schools pack

In March 1916 the Military Service Act was passed by Parliament this directly affected many men from Croydon who conscientiously objected to military service and had to appear at local tribunals to ask for exemption from service .

As part of the First World War centenary commemorations the Museum of Croydon has researched the lives of conscientious objectors from Croydon. During UK Parliament Week we will launch a free pack for secondary schools in Croydon on the topic of conscientious objection which links directly to several archive collections held at the Museum.
