Thank you all for a fantastic #ParliamentWeek 2014!

26 Nov 2014

Thank you to all our partners for making this year’s Parliament Week an amazing success! This year’s programme was hugely varied and ranged from sessions creating music (Acoustic Architecture by Soundcastle) to debates and question times (Only 23% of MPs are women- does it matter? by Women of Wolverhampton) and from walking tours (Marx and Engels in Manchester by New Manchester Walks) to performances (Early Days of a Better Nation by Coney Ltd).

Social media was buzzing and there was some fantastic media coverage across the country:

The #DoDemocracy campaign encouraging young people to start their conversations with Parliament has gone really well too and the statistics show that the campaign has been a great success:

  • the Parliament Week audience across Facebook, Twitter & Instagram grew 29% to a total community of 4,576, via 1,459 new connections
  • there were 13,463 social media interactions, e.g.: RTs, likes etc., and 303 photos, videos etc. submitted

For the first time this year, we created some Buzzfeed articles to support the #DoDemocracy campaign:

As part of the campaign, four MPs took part in successful and lively twitter chats debating with people from across the UK on a series of topics, live on twitter. Catch up on what was discussed below:

Finally our fabulous official photographer has also perfectly captured Parliament Week with her artistic photos at many of our key events. Check out her images here:
