Get involved with Democracy Street

15 Sep 2015

Help us map the democratic streets in your neighbourhood and get your contribution displayed in the Houses of Parliament during Parliament Week 2015.

Democracy Street is a digital arts project which explores links between street names in your neighbourhood and the people who have shaped our society.

The project is led by artist Jon Adams. Jon has Asperger’s syndrome which enables him to systemise data and visualise patterns. Using this skill he will take the data generated through your contributions to Democracy Street and create new pieces of art including creative maps of the UK.

This artwork will then be displayed online, at the Houses of Parliament and in exhibitions around the UK from November 2015.

You can get involved by taking these easy steps:

  1. Think of a street in your neighbourhood that relates to democracy in some way, for example Churchill Drive or Liberty Avenue.
  2. Go to the street, take a selfie next to the street sign, and upload it to Twitter with the hashtag #DemocracySt.
  3. You can also visit democracystreet.com to start exploring and discovering the streets in your area.
