In the run up to Parliament Week we will be highlighting events happening up and down the country. This week’s highlight focuses on an event taking place in Parliament about Democracy and Young Trans People.

This panel discussion with Q&A will explore how ideas of democracy connect with the lives of young trans and/ or non-binary people in the UK today. Dr Catherine McNamara, Sabah Choudrey and Dr Jay Stewart will talk ‘in conversation’ about the work carried out by Gendered Intelligence, a Community Interest Company whose key aim is to improve the lives of young trans people and take questions from the audience.

This panel will focus on the ‘Knowledge is Power’ project – a Big Lottery Awards for All funded project that aims to improve the lives of young trans people through the recognition that the more young people learn about navigating life as a trans person, the better equipped they are to face challenges and build community.

This project provided a series of opportunities for approximately 50 young transgender people to come together from across England, over several workshops to help us to create online content.
